Welcome back Eddy and David. Will look forward to the link to the book.

The ALP’s approval of the gas project is a middle finger to the environment and indigenous communities for their heritage.

In such dire circumstances with a return to government being potentially a decade away, the Liberals may find an ally in the Greens to advocate for things such as electoral reform as the next couple of elections are likely to be similarly disproportionate to the popular vote.

The landslide election result is a vindication in the ALP’s eyes of their meek and cynical political strategy. This is despite the ALP receiving fewer primary votes in 2025 than they did in 2007 (and millions fewer voters). 65% of the population voted against the ALP and under this bizarre electoral system of ours the ALP get 62% of the seats.

The PM’s ‘criticism’ of Israel is fake. Never forget how he sneered at protestors for daring to speak up for Palestinians. His contempt for them was disturbing. He genuinely believes he’s better than other Australians. Wong’s immediate acceptance of the Israeli ‘investigation’ into Zomi Frankom’s assassination is risible. Help us all if we get in trouble overseas if we have the likes of Albanese and Wong as advocates.

Great to be back John and great to have your comments as always. It may be that a more sensible liberal party looking at how to win seats back from teal candidates might find some accord from that broadest of churches - the greens. It can hardly hurt them given the antipathy that the alp might still hold for the greens, though the absence of Adam bandt and max chandler Mather might thaw things a bit. Sussan Ley may not be the person to do this but you never know. DL
