Proposed changes to donation laws will benefit major parties but won’t do much to stop the electorate looking at alternative options at the next election. The big week in federal politics.
It’s noteworthy that election ‘reform’ these days for the major party duopoly is more about tinkering with donations which do not make elections representative of the broad spectrum of opinion. Proportional representation is firmly off the table.
The ALP’s ruthless legislation against Asylum Seekers and international students is a disgrace. The LNP is contemptible but so is Labor for treating these people as akin to a pestilence that must be punished.
The censure motions demonstrate what is important to the government which controls the procedure. And what is clearly important to Penny Wong is protecting the foreign monarch and elites. No wonder the ALP primary vote is down. If she showed the same amount of outrage for this as Palestine, we might be in a better place.
Thanks Eddy and David.
