On religious discrimination legislation, I agree with your analysis. It seems like a relic from the last parliament which failed, so why would Labor do any better?

With donations, the money that flows to the parties makes for a situation where they are both very comfortable in their closeness with lobbyists. It demonstrates their contempt for the public and how we should treat their claims to legislate in our interests with suspicion.

On the Tasmanian election, proportional representation is helpful to show us exactly how popular the major parties are. That Labor and Liberal may struggle to break 65% of the vote is indicative of the mistrust many people across Australia have of these two parties that get into power and treat the public with contempt. Preferential voting on the mainland helps to cover up their low levels of support. It should be an interesting result.
