Great episode Eddy and David.

I have to disagree with David’s assessment about the left collapsing in France. The Left Coalition is the only thing standing between the right wing and a parliamentary majority. Macron is not ‘left’ at all. It is Macron’s centre right neoliberal party which has collapsed. Le Pen will also not be President after this election as it is only for the legislature.

The suspension and resignation of Senator Payman, in addition to the ruthless backgrounding against her by ALP demonstrates a bullying atmosphere within the party that does not brook independent thought or the expression of a moral conscience. The PM seems like a thin skinned man to summon the youngest Senator to the Lodge to exercise his power over an elected representative. I commend the Senator for her courage. If the ALP caucus decided that they should all jump in a lake on a freezing day, I guess everyone should follow it! Such silly logic.

The UK election result is very interesting. Some Labour MPs lost their seats to independents campaigning on a pro-Palestine platform that connected them with their constituents. The result also shows the disproportionate results of First Past the Post voting, and shows why Proportional Representation is key.
