For Chandler-Mather, my question to those who say he is ‘hated’ is ‘who said so?’ As a ‘young’ Australian, he represents me far more than the out of touch 60 year old PM. As a first term MP he has made his stances clear while some third term MPs have never shown their hand. His donation of his salary is admirable, while another MP defends a vile shock jock and buys a 4 million dollar house while young Australians may never own one.
The Senate should be a place for review, yet the ALP waits a whole year to push through 30+ bills without a senate committee review. The Parliament should have these reviews on the public record for people to read and access.
The LNPs selective outrage at the ICC shows that they only saw it as a body to hold people in developing nations to account and not their own. When an ideological ally is being investigated the rules don’t apply.
Thanks John. Working backwards, you’re right, the ICC suits them when it kicks into those who they don’t like. A court shouldn’t have favourites. Just innocent and guilty.
The senate committee system tends to moderate behaviour and legislation. But that seems to have been watered down somewhat. I may be wrong here.
And yes. Chandler-Mather annoys people. But you’re right, who does he annoy? And why? I think, as I said, Peter Dutton is far more universally disliked. Yet the media don’t mention this.
Another interesting episode, David and Eddy.
